Understanding the ABN

The ABN form is an important component to the billing process of your medical office. The billing guidelines for filing Medicare claims with services that are not reasonable and medically necessary require that a valid ABN be on file and availabe to Medicare upon request.

Are your completed ABN's considered "valid" according to Medicare standards?
Do you perform random audits on the ABN's you have on file to verify validity?
Do you conduct training sessions to make sure medical office staff know the proper way to fill out an ABN?
