The AMBA (American Medical Billing Association) has declared March 22, 2012 "National Medical Biller's Day". According to the AMBA website, medical billers have an important job and it is important that they are recognized for their efforts and professionalism.Cyndee Weston, AMBA's Executive Director, says
"Medical billers perform thankless tasks all day, most days. They deal with upset patients and moody doctors regularly. They make crucial and important decisions that affect practice income and reimbursements daily, yet they are hardly ever praised for the important and professional work they do. That is why we are active in promoting Medical Biller's Day each year. It's important to us that someone says THANK YOU to their medical biller."
Currently, National Medical Biller's Day is recognized in the following states:
- New York
- West Virginia
Medical billers can help spread the word and have National Medical Biller's Day recognized in all 50 states. Visit the AMBA website to find out how you can help AMBA and other Medical Biller's by getting your state to recognize this important day. AMBA provides tools and assistance for any medical biller, members and non-members of AMBA, that need help getting their state to recognize National Medical Biller's Day.
To all medical billers, I say "Thank you for all that you do".
