This week's Medical Office news updates
- The Affordable Care Act turned 1 this week. Although health reform still receives much resistance, in the past year many changes have been made to expand coverage, control health care costs, and improve the health care delivery system.
- CMS re-launched its website: Innovations.cms.gov. The website provides new ideas to improving the health care system for Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) beneficiaries.
- CMS Launches Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Website. According to CMS.gov, Section 6411 of the Affordable Care Act of 2010 required States and territories to establish Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) programs. Medicaid RACs are tasked with identifying and recovering Medicaid overpayments and identifying underpayments. As an initial step for establishing their RAC programs, jurisdictions are expected to submit a Medicaid State Plan amendment (SPA) that addresses some of the essential elements of their RAC program.
